Losing someone like George is such a horrible thing for the family that I can’t even imagine words that could express my feelings of sadness for them. But I do know that my every interaction with George, over the years from the Union Camp days in our early careers through my work at the mill with International Paper, were enjoyable and enlightening. We worked on hard problems together, challenged each other’s thinking, swapped stories, and complained about the mill and the world. I learned a lot from George, in no small part because he was data-driven, smart, articulate, and deeply experienced. He knew a lot about a lot. That includes paper making, but well beyond. Many, many are going to miss George. And as long as he is not forgotten, he will never be gone.
